Settings is a key feature in the Fortune Pay app that focuses on giving users full control over their app experience. It allows customization of preferences such as security options like biometric login and PIN management and account management.
The Challenge
Designing the Settings feature in an e-wallet app like Fortune Pay comes with several challenges, especially when balancing usability, security, and flexibility. For instance, ensuring that users can easily organize a growing list of settings—such as biometric login, transaction limits, and notification preferences—into a structure that’s intuitive and easy to navigate.
The Solution
Here are the key enhancements considered in designing 🤔
Clear Categorization
Grouping related settings under intuitive categories like Account, Security, Notifications, and Preferences reduces cognitive load and helps users find what they need quickly.
Layered Authentication
Requiring PIN or OTP for sensitive actions like changing passwords or unlinking accounts balances convenience with protection of sensitive data.
Scalability
Design with scalability in mind—using modular components and allow for future expansion without redesigning the entire UI.
Takeaways
What I learned 💭
Designing the Settings feature taught me that organization is key and a well-structured settings layout makes a huge difference. Categorizing options and using progressive disclosure helped reduce clutter and improve discoverability. Additionally, it taught me the importance of continuous improvement through iteration and the valuable insights from getting constructive feedback.
Next Steps ✨
Since I am only responsible for the UI Design of the app, I would prioritize next testing the Settings screens and getting user feedback to reveal hidden friction points—like unclear labels or buried options—which will help me refine the design significantly.
